Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can recieve emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permenant patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permenant Gp.

After three monthsyou will have to re register as a temporary patient or permentantly register with the practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use, Practices do not have to accept you as a temporarypatient although they have to have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient in a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

The doctors recommend that our receptionist's who are Care Navigators ask for a brief description of the problem to help direct you to the most appropriate person to deal with it. If needed they will either book a face to face or a telephone appointment.  This may not always be with a GP, but could be with a Pharmacist, Mental Health Worker, Social Prescriber or nurse.

Telephone Consultations

Telephone consultations can be used to discuss results of tests and investigations and any other advice where an examination is not required.

We understand that in some certain circumstances you may need to book ahead. Please notify the receptionist who will try to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.

Nurses Appointments

All appointments are pre-bookable; speak to a receptionist.

Extended Hours

We do offer a GP extended hours service which operates on a Monday evening 6:30pm to 7:30pm and the first Saturday of the month (morning only)  These appointments are book only and pre-bookable up to 2 weeks in advance.  Nurse appointments are also available.

Extended Access Hubs

We are currently participating in the Better Access appointments being offered across the area.  Numerous clinics are held at the surgery throughout the week offering an increased availability for routine appointments for people living in our region.  Patients registered at GP Practices across Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby can pre-book a routine primary care appointment between 6.30pm and 8pm throughout the week and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays.

These appointments are manned by local GP's, nurse practitioners, health care assistants, nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists.  These can be booked at various practices across the area or at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.

This is not a walk-in service so please speak to one of our reception team for more information on how to book these.

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception between 8am and 10am.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
